Superintendent's Office

Dear Friends of our Schuylkill Haven Area School Community,

Thank you for this amazing opportunity to join the Schuylkill Haven Area School District as Superintendent of Schools. I’ve spent the months prior to my start date getting to know the people in and around the school district.  I’ve enjoyed listening to your great ideas, your hopes for our schools, your concerns, and your willingness to contribute to the exciting opportunities ahead of us.  I also learned first-hand that when one of our own needs support, we rise to the occasion and do what it takes to pick each other up.

We will enter the 2017-18 school year with a focus on the one thing that is common to every individual, relationship, team, family, organization, national economy, and civilization throughout the world – one thing that impacts us 24/7, 365 days a year and affects the quality of every relationship and every effort in which we are engaged. That one thing is TRUST and it is our job to earn the trust of our students, families, tax payers, and alumni that have made this school district what it is today.  As we address the diverse issues facing our schools, this allegiance to earning your trust will ensure that we stay grounded and focused on what is most essential.

I’ve been fortunate to land in a school district with a talented, experienced administration already in place, and together, we’ve developed an entry plan intended to guide our first year together as we adapt to the changing conditions that face our learners every day.  In addition, Mr. Ken Rossi has just joined our team as Director of Special Education and we couldn’t be more excited about the expertise he brings to this position. We value your feedback, which will assist us in the development of important strategic goals.  We will focus our energy and resources developing the “whole child” and preserving the excellent programs, activities, and events that contribute to the pride that already exists in the Schuylkill Haven Area School District.

During the early stages of my transition, our leadership team will be working hard to ensure that 2017-18 is an exceptional year for our students, staff, and families. We will review last year’s student and staff performance data, make careful hiring decisions, and develop meaningful professional development for all staff members.  On behalf of our leadership team, we look forward to meeting you, working alongside you, and sharing in all of the incredible things our students will do this year and beyond.
