**IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE CAFETERIA**

Dear Schuylkill Haven Area School District Families,

The District has moved to a new electronic meal counting system called PrimeroEdge over the summer months.  All student balances and eligibility statuses have been transferred to the new system, meaning a seamless transition from last school year for all of the student accounts.

The new program will allow parents/guardians the ability to view purchase history, manage your student’s account and make deposits through the new SchoolCafé website and/or mobile application for your Apple or Android device, much like the previous My School Account.  Also, the SchoolCafé application will eventually allow families the ability to see daily menus and basic nutritional and allergen information, but this part is still under construction.

Cash and check payments will still be accepted at each building as in previous years.  Elementary students can bring an envelope marked with your child’s first and last name and give it to their homeroom teacher.  Middle school and high school students can give payments to the cashiers at the end of the serving line.  Parents/guardians can also make deposits online with a credit/debit card through SchoolCafé.  All checks should be made payable to Schuylkill Haven Area Lunch Fund.

The only major difference from the old system is that the students will no longer be using their fingerprints to access their accounts at the registers.  They will now be using a 4 or 5 digit PIN number at each register.  They will keep the same PIN number as they progress through the District.  The PIN number is currently their student ID number used in PowerSchool.  These numbers will be distributed on the first day of school to each student on a card, please work with your student to memorize the PIN.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you qualified for free or reduced meals last school year and did not already receive approval through Direct Certification, your eligibility will end on October 7, 2019 and you will need to apply again for this school year.

Starting with the 2019-2020 school year, the Schuylkill Haven Area School District will only process paper free and reduced meal applications upon request.  You must have a School Café account to apply online at www.schoolcafe.com or the SchoolCafé mobile app to access the online Free and Reduced Price Meals Application.  SchoolCafé will guide you through a quicker, simpler online application process.
